Accessing funding for ADHD Coaching

The Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) is funding that can provide financial support for ADHD Coaching in Australia.

The EAF is a government program from JobAccess that supports people to make modifications at their workplace in order to help them perform their duties. This support can include services like ADHD Coaching to help people function better and achieve better at work!

You can receive up to $1642.99 (inc. GST) per 12 months, for ADHD Coaching.

How to Apply

You need the following to apply:

  • MyGov ID

  • Document confirming ADHD diagnosis - you can ask your GP, psychologist or psychiatrist to write one for you

  • Proof of Australian residency. Exceptions include holders of a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) from 1 June 2021

  • Evidence that you are currently employed or self-employed, with work expected to continue for at least 13 weeks (like an employment contract, or payslips)

  • For self-employed individuals, evidence of working a minimum of 8 hours per week over the last 13 weeks and earning an income equivalent to or above the National Minimum Wage

Steps to Apply For Funding

  1. Once you have your MyGov ID and documentation confirming your ADHD diagnosis (from your GP, psychologist or psychiatrist) it should only take around 30 minutes to apply at this link.

  2. During the application,, in the Description of Services section, add ADHD Coaching as the Description of Services.

  3. Select Support type: Choose “Specialist Mental Health Support” from the dropdown menu.

  4. Cost of services: Enter $1642.99 as the cost of services (the maximum amount you can be funded is $1642.99 inc. GST) This will cover an ADHD Coaching package of 12 sessions that is valid for 12 months.

  5. During the application process you can appoint a nominee (eg myself) to act as your liaison (in case you prefer not to disclose to your boss/organisation). Please contact me at: crystalhchoi.coaching@gmail.com for my details that you need to appoint me as your nominee on the form.

  6. Once you submit, the EAF team usually take 48 hours to acknowledge your application and send you an authority to contact form, which you need to complete in order to give them permission to contact me.

  7. The EAF team requires additional information from me, which includes a brief description of your work, the barriers you are experiencing at work due to your ADHD and an outline of what the coaching program will look like. I will work with you to complete the additional information required.

Reimbursement

Once your application is approved, you will purchase the coaching package and I will provide you with an invoice that you will use to be reimbursed (like getting reimbursed for Medicare).

Workplace Disclosure

The EAF does not require you to disclose your diagnosis to your employer/organisation.

Documentation Required

To apply, you will need to provide the following:

  • Document confirming your ADHD diagnosis (from your GP, psychologist or psychiatrist)

  • Evidence that you have been employed in work that will last for at least 13 weeks and be working at least 8 hours a week. Evidence that you provide should include:

    • Your full name

    • Job title

    • Company name & ABN

    • Start date

    • Hours worked per week (eg payslips)

    • Employer’s signature (eg from contract)

People who are Self-Employed

If you are self-employed, you will need to provide evidence that you have been working 8 hours per week (or more) over the last 13 weeks that is at least equivalent to an hourly National Minimum Wage of $24.10 for all hours worked.
